LTDS Phone Features

When you order a local telephone line from LTDS, you have the option to add one or more of the following special features. If you have any questions about these features, don't hesitate to give us a call.

1) Caller ID (Displays the caller ID info of incoming calls)

This feature displays to you the name, number, date and time of incoming local and long-distance calls, provided the caller doesn’t have ID blocking. Note: the caller’s name may or may not appear, depending on what telephone directory he or she appears in. Also, ID information for international calls may not appear.

This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is programmed into the LTDS switch by our engineers.

2) Caller ID Suppress All Calls (Suppresses your caller ID info)

If the people you call have Caller ID, this feature will prevent them from seeing your name and number.

This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is programmed into the LTDS switch by our engineers.

3) Caller ID Suppress Release Per Call (*67) (Releases your caller ID info)

Allows the release of your number on a per-call basis, if you have the Caller ID Suppress All Calls feature.

To cause your Caller ID info to be displayed to people you call, pick up your receiver, press *67, then dial the number you want to call. After your call is finished, Caller ID Suppress Release will be reactivated automatically.

4) Caller ID Suppress Per Call (*67) (Suppresses your caller ID info)

If you do not have the Caller ID Suppress All Calls feature, this feature will block your name and number on a per-call basis.

To prevent your Caller ID info from being displayed to someone you call, pick up your receiver, press *67, then dial the number you want to call. After your call is finished, Caller ID Suppress Per Call will be deactivated automatically.

5) Call Waiting

Allows you to keep one caller on the line [on hold] while you take a second call, without loosing the first call. This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is permanently programmed into the LTDS switch.

When you are talking on the phone and someone else calls, you will hear a short beep. The new caller will hear the usual ringing. To answer the second call, press the flash button, if available (or the receiver button once firmly and release). You will be connected to the second caller. The first caller is on hold while you are talking to the second caller. To return to the first call, press the receiver button once firmly and release. You can switch back and forth as often as you wish by pressing the receiver button.

Ending either call: There are two different ways that one of the conversations you’re having can be ended. (1) If you hang up, your phone will ring and you’ll be connected with the person remaining on the line. (2) Alternatively, if one of your callers hangs up, just press the receiver button once firmly and release. You will be connected to the other caller.

6) Call Waiting Cancel (*70)

Allows the Call Waiting feature to be disabled for the duration of a telephone call.

To cancel Call Waiting: (1) Before placing your call, pick up your receiver and press *70. (2) Listen for a dial tone and dial the phone number as usual. (3) When finished with your call, simply hang up. Call Waiting is automatically reactivated.

7) Call Forwarding Programmable (all calls) - (*72 activation, *73 deactivation)

Causes all your incoming calls to be redirected to another number. To activate, pick up your receiver and press *72, listen for the dial tone, then dial the number to which you want your calls sent, then hang up. Call forwarding has now been activated and all incoming calls will be redirected until you deactivate Call Forwarding Programmable.

Note: When call forwarding is activated and a call comes in to your phone, you may not hear it ring, or you may hear a short ring, but you won’t be able to answer the call, since the call is being forwarded. However, while your calls are forwarded you phone is still available for making outgoing calls.

To cancel call forwarding, pick up your receiver and press *73, then hang up. Your calls will no longer be forwarded.

8) Call Forwarding Programmable Busy (*90 activation, *91 deactivation)

Causes your incoming calls to be redirected to another number when your number is busy.

To activate, pick up your receiver and press *90. Listen for a dial tone, then dial the number to which you want your calls sent. Then hang up. All calls coming in when your line is busy will be redirected until you deactivate call forwarding.

To deactivate, pick up your receiver and press *90, then hang up.

9) Call Forwarding Busy

Causes your incoming calls to be redirected to another number when your number is busy. This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is programmed into the LTDS switch by our engineers.

10) Call Forwarding Programmable No Answer (*92 activation, *93 deactivation)

Causes your incoming calls to be redirected to another number if you don’t answer after approximately 20 seconds. (Our engineers can set the delay to anywhere from 1 to 200 seconds. One ring = 5 seconds.)

To activate, pick up your receiver and press *92. Listen for a dial tone, then dial the number to which you want your calls sent. Then hang up. All unanswered incoming calls will be redirected until you deactivate call forwarding.

To deactivate, pick up your receiver and press *93, then hang up.

11) Call Forwarding No Answer

Causes your incoming calls to be redirected to another number if you don’t answer after approximately 20 seconds. (Our engineers can set the delay to anywhere from 1 to 200 seconds. One ring = 5 seconds.) This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is programmed into the LTDS switch.

12) Call Forwarding Permanent

All incoming calls to your number will be forwarded to another number. This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is programmed into the LTDS switch by our engineers.

13) 3-Way Calling

Allows you to talk with two people at the same time on one phone line.

To add a third person to your conversation: (1) Press the flash button, if available (or the receiver button) to put the first caller on hold. You'll hear two short beeps followed by a dial tone. (2) Dial the number of the other person you want to add to your conversation. Once the caller answers, you can talk privately before adding the first caller back in. (3) Press the receiver button to bring all three parties on the line.

If the third person doesn't answer or the line is busy, press the receiver button twice to cancel.

A conversation can be ended in two ways: (1) When either of the parties you’re talking to hangs up [in which case, you can continue to talk to the remaining person], or (2) you hang up [which will disconnect all parties].

14) 3-Way Calling, Dropping Out

This feature works with 3-Way Calling to allow you to end your conversation and allow the other 2 parties to continue their conversation.

To drop out of a 3-way call, just hang up. The two other parties will be able to continue to talk to each other.

Warning: if you initiated the call and one or both of the other two calls were long-distance, you will be billed for even that part of the call that continues after you’ve hung up.

15) Hunting

This feature automatically routes incoming calls to a free line. Hunting is placed on individual telephone lines that make up a group, also known as a hunt group. Hunt groups are a series of lines organized so that if the first line is busy the next line is hunted, and so on until a free line is found.

This feature, instead of being turned on or off by you, is permanently programmed into the LTDS switch by our engineers.

16) Speed Dialing Eight Numbers (*74)

Allows two-digit dialing to reach up to eight frequently called numbers (local or long distance). To set up: Pick up your receiver and press *74, then enter the Speed Dial code (2 through 9) and the complete number you want to assign to that code (include 1+area code if it’s long distance), then enter the # sign. To dial out, enter the Speed Dial code and the # key.

17) Speed Dialing Thirty Numbers (*75)

Allows three-digit dialing to reach up to 30 frequently called numbers (local or long distance). To set up: Pick up your receiver and press *75, then enter the Speed Dial code (20 through 49) and the complete number you want to assign to that code (include 1+area code if it’s long distance), then enter the # sign. To dial out, enter the Speed Dial code and the # key.
