Connection Settings

Warning: Be sure to check that the LISCO local access telephone number you choose is a local call from your phone. If you have any doubt about whether the call will be toll-free, contact your telephone company. LISCO is not responsible for any long distance charges incurred.

 

1. Close all programs and windows and go to the Desktop.
2. Click on the Start Menu button, then click on Connect To.  Click on Show All Connections.  If you see a LISCO icon, skip to Step10.  If you do NOT see a LISCO icon, go to Step 3.
3. Click on Create a New Connection.  This will open a New Connection Wizard. Now select NEXT.
4. Select Connect to the Internet and click on NEXT.  In the next window, select Setup the Connection Manually and click on NEXT.
5. Select Connect using a Dialup Modem and click on NEXT.  You will be prompted to type in the name of the ISP. Type in LISCO (caps not important), then click on NEXT.

You will be prompted to type in your local access number.  MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PUT AN AREA CODE IN FRONT OF YOUR LOCAL ACCESS NUMBER.  Once the number is in, click on NEXT.

 

 

 

 

6. On the Internet Account Information page, type in your LISCO username (your LISCO username is the name you signed up for, and does NOT contain @lisco.com ).
7. Type in your LISCO password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
8. Uncheck "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this Connection".

Do NOT further modify any check boxes in this window.

Click on the Next button.

 

 

9. Put a check in the box labeled Add Shortcut to Desktop and click Finish.
10. A Dialer window will open. If it does not, Double-click on the LISCO icon on your desktop.

If you skipped to this step from step number 2, you can access these settings by clicking on your Start Menu, selecting Connect To, and clicking on LISCO.
11. Click on the Properties button, then make sure Use Dialing Rules is unchecked.
12. Click on the Networking Tab.

 

 

13. Underneath the PPP:Windows 95/98/NT 4/2000, Internet field, click on the Settings button.
14. Uncheck Enable Software Compression, then click OK.
15. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) so it is highlighted and click the Properties Button.

 



 

16. Click on Use the following DNS server addresses.
17. In the Preferred DNS server field type in 69.18.32.50
18. In the Alternate DNS server field type in 69.18.32.51
19. Click on the Advanced button
20. Take the check mark out of Use IP Header Compression.  Click OK.
21. Click OK again.
22. Click OK one more time.

 

 

23. You are now ready to connect to the Internet.  Click Dial to connect. Then, once connected, open Internet Explorer or Outlook Express to use the Internet.
