Changing the DNS numbers
in Windows 95 and Win 98

1. Close all programs and windows and go to the Desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
4. Right-click on the LISCO icon. (The icon might be labled "LISCO-Pella," or something else with the word LISCO in it. If you can't find a LISCO icon, please contact LISCO's Customer Support.)

 

 

5. Click on Properties. The settings window will appear with the General tab selected.

 

 

6. Click on the Server Types tab.

 

 

7. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button. The TCP/IP Settings window will appear.

 

8. Press the TAB key on your keyboard. until the cursor jumps down to the left-hand side of the Primary DNS field.
9. Type in the numbers  69.18.32.50
10. Press the TAB key. The cursor will jump down to the left-hand side of the Secondary DNS field
11. Type in the numbers 69.18.32.51
12. Confirm that the numbers on your conputer's screen are the same as the numbers shown to the left.
13.  
14. Click on the OK button.
15. Click on the OK button in the remaining dialog boxes to close them. Then close the Dial-Up Networking and My Computer windows.
 
Warning: Before you proceed to the following steps, make sure you have your Windows 95 or Windows 98 CD-ROM or diskettes available. You may be asked to insert the CD or diskettes, so if you do not have them available now, do not proceed.

 

16. Click on the Start button, choose Settings, then Control Panel.
17. Double-click on the Network icon. The Network window will appear.
18. In the list that appears below the words, "The following network components are installed," double-click on either TCP/IP or TCP/IP->Dail-Up Adapter. You may have to scroll down to find one of these items. (If neither of these two components are listed, call LISCO's technical service department.) The TCP/IP Properties window will appear.
19. Click on the DNS Configuration tab.

 

 

20. Make sure your LISCO username (no @lisco.com) appears in the Host field.
21. Make sure lisco.com appears in the Domain field.
22. See if there are any number in the second field below the words, DNS Server Search Order (in other words, just to the left of the Remove button).
--If any numbers are listed, select them and click the Remove button.  Then go to step 21.
--If there are no numbers, go to step 21.

 

 

23. Position your mouse pointer to the left of the left-most period in the field that is just below the words, "DNS Server Search Order." Press the left mouse button to position the cursor at that point.
24. Type in the numbers 69.18.32.50
25. Click on the Add button. The line of numbers will jump down to the field that is to the left of the Remove button.
26. Position your mouse pointer to the left of the left-most period in the field that is just below the words, "DNS Server Search Order." Press the left mouse button to position the cursor at that point.
27. Type in the numbers 69.18.32.51
28. Click on the Add button. The line of numbers will jump down to the field that is to the left of the Remove button.

 

29. The numbers 69.18.32.50
and 69.18.32.51 should be in the field just to the left of the Remove button.
30.

Click on the OK button.

31. Click on the OK button to close the Network window.
