Changing Your Dial-Up Number

Warning: Be sure to check that the LISCO local access telephone number you choose is a local call from your phone. If you have any doubt about whether the call will be toll-free, contact your telephone company. LISCO is not responsible for any long distance charges incurred.

 

Windows98 and Windows95
Here's how to change the LISCO dial-up telephone number from within Windows98 or Windows95.

1. Go to the Desktop and double-click on the My Computer icon.
2. Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
3. Right-click on the LISCO icon.
4. Choose Properties.
5. When the LISCO ("General") box appears, enter the new telephone number in the "Telephone number" field. (Enter only the 7-digit number into this field. Do NOT enter a "1" or an area code.)
6. Click on "OK."
7. From now on, your computer will dial the new telephone number whenever you want to get on the Internet.

 

WindowsME
Here's how to change the LISCO dial-up telephone number from within WindowsME.

1. Click on your Start Menu, click on Settings, then click on Dialup Networking.
2. Right Click on the LISCO Icon.
3. Choose Properties.
4. When the LISCO ("General") box appears, enter the new telephone number in the "Telephone number" field. (Enter only the 7-digit number into this field. Do NOT enter a "1" or an area code.)
5. Click on "OK"
6. From now on, your computer will dial the new telephone number whenever you want to get on the Internet.

 

Windows2000
Here's how to change the LISCO dial-up telephone number from within Windows2000.

1. Click on your Start Menu, click on Settings, Choose Networking and Dialup Networking, then click on your LISCO dialer.
2. Your dialer window should appear, click on the button called Properties.
3. When the LISCO ("General") box appears, enter the new telephone number in the "Telephone number" field. (Enter only the 7-digit number into this field. Do NOT enter a "1" or an area code.)
4. Click on "OK."
5. From now on, your computer will dial the new telephone number whenever you want to get on the Internet.

 

Macintosh - OS 7.6 and above
Here's how to change the LISCO dial-up telephone number on Macintosh computers with Operating Systems 7.6 and above.

1. Click on the Apple pull-down menu.
2. Choose Control Panels.
3. Select "PPP" (or "Remote Access").
4. Replace the existing telephone number that's in the "Number" field with the new LISCO dial-up telephone number. (Enter only the 7-digit number into this field. Do NOT enter a "1" or an area code.)

 

Macintosh - OS 7.1 to OS 7.5.5 (and all OSs in-between)
Here's how to change the LISCO dial-up telephone number on Macintosh computers with Operating Systems 7.1 to 7.5.5 (and all OSs in-between).

1. Click on your Apple Menu, then choose Control Panels, then click on ConfigPPP.
2. Click on the button labeled "Config."
3. Change the Phone Num field to the new Telephone Number. (Enter only the 7-digit number into this field. Do NOT enter a "1" or an area code.)
4. Click on "Done."
5. Close ConfigPPP, or otherwise click on "Open" to dial immediately to connect.
6. From now on, your computer will dial the new telephone number whenever you want to get on the Internet.
