Help With Viruses, Worms, etc.

Now Offers Virus-Free Email Here are some basic steps for dealing with viruses: 1. Do NOT open attachments! One of the best ways to prevent virus infections is to not open attachments. Even if an e-mail message is from a known source, be careful. A user whose computer is infected with a virus may not be aware of the infection, and even e-mail from your friends may be infected. Always scan attached files for viruses with a virus-protection program before opening the attachments. Unless an attachment is a file or an image you are expecting, delete the attachment. 2. Get protected. If you do not already have an anti-virus program on your computer, get one. 3. Do a thorough scan of your system regularly with an anti-virus program. 4. Update your anti-virus software. 5. If your anti-virus software informs you that it has discovered an infected file, do not delete or quarantine the file. Instead, write down the name of the virus and the file. Then go to the website of the manufacturer of your anti-virus software and look for instructions on how to remove the virus from your computer. (If you delete or quarantine a file that's critical to the operation of your system, you may not be able to reboot your computer successfully.)
