How to turn off file sharing on the Mac

1. Open the File Sharing Control Panel

Choose Control Panels from the Apple menu and then File Sharing from the sub-menu.

The File Sharing Control Panel like the one on the right will open.

Look at the middle section of the panel. It will tell you if file sharing is on.

If file sharing is on, click on the Stop button.

If it is checked, you should also uncheck the checkbox named "Enable File Sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP."

Click on the close box in the upper left-hand corner of the window to close the the window.
